On Friday 1st July, convicted paedophile Ted Hall, a former teacher at St. Pius X had period of 8 months added to his previous sentence of 20 years jail for offences against a total of 10 boys. Hall was found guilty of indecently assaulting a 15 year old male student in 1974 after luring him into remote bushland on a “shooting trip”. Hall, who represents himself, has failed to have his convictions overturned in the Court of Criminal Appeal and continues to maintain his innocence. In sentencing, Judge Bourke commented that Hall “has taken no steps towards rehabilitation and has shown not the slightest indication of any remorse for any of the serious predatory crimes he has committed”. Hall will now not be eligible to apply for parole until December 2032.
