HUNTER OUTREACH PROJECT

Supporting Survivors of Church-Based Child Sexual Abuse

The Hunter Outreach Project is an innovative collaboration between researchers and community support programmes, delivering trauma-informed psycho-social education and support services for adults impacted by Church-based child sexual abuse in the Hunter region.

The Work We Do​

  • Trauma-Informed Services: Specialised support programs for survivors and families
  • Community Support and Engagement: successfully linking survivors with support networks, monthly meetingof CAN members, bi-annual retreat and group activities.
  • Regional Outreach: Linking up with communities in Taree, Foster, Singleton, and Merriwa
  • Policy Influence: Contributions to Church safeguarding policies and redress information
  • Knowledge Building: Development of perpetrator network mapping scheme

The Mapping Project

  • If you are a survivor, family member or impacted community member of church-based institutional child sexual abuse in the Upper Hunter area, you are invited to participate in a one-hour interview with researchers Jodi Death and Kath McPhillips at a time that suits you.
